The Easter Message.

Thoughts for this Easter.

The message of Easter: The empty crosses viewed from the empty grave.

At Easter, we reflect on the turmoil of a chaotic period in the lives of those who followed Jesus. On Good Friday, it seemed that all was lost. Yet, on the third day He rose again – and everything changed!

In uncertain times, as we may feel we are facing now, it is not unusual for people to turn to faith as their anchor. The Bible encourages us to trust in God’s plan when we feel lost or overwhelmed. As we reflect on the world today, we can find comfort in knowing that through our belief, we can withstand life’s challenges.

Our faith can guide us through confusion and lead us towards hope. Reminding us that God is always with us, working behind the scenes for our good.

Two often quoted passages offer encouragement:

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NRSVUE)

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not rely on your own insight.
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will make straight your paths.

Jeremiah 29:11

For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.

This Easter, whatever trials you are facing, remember the meaning of the empty cross – and the empty grave. They mean the victory is won. Death is defeated. The power of the cross is not in the suffering alone, but the victory over sin and death that was accomplished on that first Easter.

Easter is the assurance that God keeps His word. Jesus foretold that He would be handed over, killed, and rise again on the third day – and He fulfilled every part of that promise.

You can place your trust in a Saviour who conquered the grave!
