Barbara Lower

Boat Name: Madeley Wood.

Born in Sowerby Bridge, near Halifax in Yorkshire, Barbara lived there until attending Sheffield University to study medicine. There she met John, and they married, settling down in Chesterfield where Barbara worked as a GP. They have 2 sons and as a family attended Central Methodist in Chesterfield. They are now both retired, moved to a canalside bungalow in Shireoaks, near Worksop. As the village only has a parish church, they are now Anglicans!

Barbara's parents attended church and she was taken along. There was an active youth group and, following on from that, Barbara joined a Christian Group at university. She became a member of the Methodist church whilst a student.

Barbara and John went on a hire boat holiday with a group of university friends. They then bought a small cruiser and moved up to a narrow boat when they had the children.
