Mobile Phones

Have you ever gone out without your mobile phone?

If you have, how do you feel? Lost? In a panic? Worried no-one will be able to get hold of you?

Having a mobile phone in your pocket gives you a sense of peace. Knowing that if you need to speak to someone they are just a phone call away.

Today’s society dictates that we need to be contactable, wherever we are, whatever we are doing. People get frustrated if they cannot speak to the person they want to right at that moment. It all adds to the pressures of modern life.

The very thing that was supposed to make life easier is now adding to the everyday stress we all encounter! We feel forced to post onto Social Media, to comment on our friends’ posts. To come up with something cleverer or wittier than everyone else. If we don’t keep up, then we feel left out. We feel we need to earn our friendships.

Being a Christian is like having your mobile phone with you all the time, but only the best bits with none of the pressure! Only with Jesus in your life can you experience real peace. You can speak to God, through Jesus, any time you want. You do not have to prove yourself to Jesus. You just need to BE yourself. Accept and Believe that Jesus is the Son of God who came into this world to die for you, and accept His grace.

“Christ arrives right on time to make this happen. He didn’t, and doesn’t, wait for us to get ready. He presented Himself for this sacrificial death when we were far too weak and rebellious to do anything to get ourselves ready. And even if we hadn’t been so weak, we wouldn’t have known what to do anyway. We can understand someone dying for a person worth dying for, and we can understand how someone good and noble could inspire us to selfless sacrifice. But God put His love on the line for us by offering His Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to Him.” Romans 5:6-8 (The Message Version).

Another way of describing this relationship – for being a Christian is a relationship – is a bridge. Jesus is the bridge that crosses the divide between our sinful nature and God. He is the link, the way to God, the way to salvation.

Jesus said, “I am the Road, also the Truth, also the Life. No one gets to the Father apart from me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him. You’ve even seen him!” John 14:6 (The Message Version).

This is exciting news! With God, you do not need to try and impress Him like you have to with your peers. You do not have to earn your salvation. You just need to accept Jesus as your friend. Live your life by putting Jesus first. And, as you would strive to do your best for someone you really love, so you will strive to live your life the way that God wants you to. Not by religiously following the rules, but because you want to – because you are in the best relationship anyone could ever have!

If you want to know more about a relationship with Jesus, then talk to a friend who you know has accepted Jesus into their life, visit www.christianity.org.uk or contact us. But whatever you do, do something.
