Your Beautiful Green

A watercolour of a beautiful green landscapr of grass, trees and bushes. As Autumn approaches we anticipate the leaves on our trees turning colour to yellows and golds, reds and browns. Many admire the colour arrays that are displayed in this season.

But this is not the only season that has many different colours. As I was preparing to lead a harvest thanksgiving service at my church, I contemplated the view from my desk overlooking the park on the other side of the canal. What a wonderful array of beautiful greens. If I made a tree, I would make its leaves green. But only one green!

So I took my watercolours and created an impression of the view. Just five greens: windsor green, sap green, hookers green, cobalt green and prussian green. As I painted, I contemplated the infinite variety of mixtures of blue and yellow. My greens do not match up to the infinite number of shades that God’s creation provides.

Take 2 minutes and 39 seconds to contemplate the wonderful diversity of God’s creation while listening to Luis Berra’s piece “Your Beautiful Green”. It will change the way you look at trees forever.
