The recent dry spell has been an opportunity for maintenance, especially painting. A lot of time is spent dealing with rust and corrosion and making good, in order to try to restore the boat to its original condition, only for the corrosion to come back over time and use.
In contrast, Jesus tells us to focus on things that don’t deteriorate:
“Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be”. Matthew 6:19-21 NLT
