Embracing Lent
As spring breathes life into the waterways, we find a unique opportunity to embrace Lent – a season of reflection and spiritual renewal leading up to Easter. The tranquil environment of the canals offers a perfect setting to deepen our faith during this meaningful time.
Lent invites us to ponder the profound sacrifice Jesus made for our salvation. His death on the cross paid the price for our sins, as John the Baptist declared, “Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29).
In this season, we’re called to examine our lives, acknowledging where we’ve strayed and seeking to turn back to God. True repentance involves a heartfelt desire to change, moving away from actions that separate us from Him. It’s a time to seek His mercy and strength to lead a life that honours Him.
Lent also encourages us to mirror Jesus’ generosity by giving to others. Whether it’s sharing our time, resources, or simply offering a helping hand, these acts of kindness reflect the love we’ve received. As Ephesians 5:2 urges, “Live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us.”
By embracing Lent, we can draw closer to God and live out the grace we’ve been given.
