Julie Thorn - Maid of Oak & Malcom Wild Edwin Fasham - Ferrous
 Arthur Page
Their presence was much in evidence with large BCF signs in windows, banners flying and bunting. Stephanie & Malcolm Grey-smart with Jan & Ian James manned a stall with BCF literature. There were a number of friendly competitions over the weekend and an awards ceremony at 2pm on the Sunday. Ferrous’ (Edwin Fasham) won an unusual trophy for the best internal engine installation. Malcolm Wild won a large cup for his boat-handling and ‘Maid of Oak’ won a cup for best galley. Arthur Page’s knowledge of the Staff sand Worcester Canal was a huge help in the ‘Maid of Oak’ quiz team and we were runners-up.
This ‘Gathering’ was part of the Kidderminster Festival and so many of the public wandered along the tow-path chatting to the boat owners and it was a good opportunity to explain about BCF. A number of people visited us on board, who had never been on a narrow-boat before and were quite surprised by what they found! Julie Thorn Autumn social gathering at Stourbridge:

The BCF Word has won 3rd Place in the annual AWCC best magazine competition and the certificate was presented to Roger McLennan (the BCF’s AWCC representative) on my behalf at the AWCC AGM in March. This is the third time I have had the honour of being recognised for my magazines. The Word & the Thrupp Canal Cruising Club magazine Wide Views were previous winners. Although, I am obviously chuffed to bits, The BCF Word is joint effort by all those who contribute through articles, news, photos, stuffing envelopes etc, etc. Thank you all. David Clark
